The ground floor guest room, is luxurious with pure cotton bedding and a wool duvet to keep you warm and snug in the comfortable queen sized bed. A romantic atmosphere has been created with the colours and furnishings. The exquisite large en suite bathroom has under-floor heating, heated towel rail and regal gold fittings as well as stunning pink paua inserts in the tiles to enhance the romantic atmosphere, this is completed with ‘Blue Earth’ natural bathroom products. The morning sun greets you as you sit on your own private deck where you can enjoy breakfast outdoors or in the dining room.

The first floor guest rooms have a calm and tranquil feel which matches the external environment. The beds are sumptuously comfortable with pure cotton bed linen and the subtle fragrance of locally grown 'Ngahere' lavender helps ensure a good nights sleep. The view from these rooms frame the rolling Hunter Hills, the Waimate township or the sea.

Feel pampered in the tiled bathroom with luxurious ‘Blue Earth’ bathroom products. ‘Blue Earth’, based in the foothills of the Southern Alps, are plant based soaps, shampoo and moisturisers. They are hand made from fruits, flowers, herbs and vegetable oils.

Enjoy a choice of continental or full breakfast . We are spoiled with our own free range eggs as well as honey from our own beehive to spread on your homemade breads. Enjoy locally reared ‘Havoc” bacon and seasonal fruits and herbs freshly picked from our garden.

Enjoy your breakfast inside or out on the deck taking in the views while you eat. Breakfast can be brought to you or join us in the family kitchen/dining room.

The menu for the evening meal alters according to seasonal availability of fresh fruit and vegetables. We provide 'home reared' meats and organic meats for our guests. Our aim is to provide fresh and minimally processed foods to enhance wellbeing.

Available by request is an aromatherapy bath in a stunning claw foot bath – large enough to fit a couple comfortably.

Relax in an outdoor bath at Awatea Retreat and take in the stunning views of Waimate
Also available are outdoor baths - a relaxing or romantic experience, where the stars and night lights of Waimate can be enjoyed in a private setting while you bathe in essential oils.

Fishing Experience - weather permitting

exclusive fly fishing, Waimate, South Canterbury Rob is an experienced fly and spin fisherman with more than 30 years fishing experience. He can take you on a journey exploring South Canterbury rivers and streams providing you with a quality fishing experience.

The main fishing season is from October 1st –April 30th.

Surfing Experience - weather permitting

Tailor made surfing experience to cater for the absolute beginner through to the more experienced surfer. There are three or four great surfing spots within half an hours drive of Waimate. Surfboard provided. $50 per hour
